To fulfill the pledge I made to strive to reach the highest, educational, moral and spiritual efficiency I can possibly attain and the lifetime commitment I made over 30 years ago, I seek the office of President. The office of president is one that to me epitomizes the work that is done for Delta. I was introduced to “Hard work” through the Kappa Epsilon chapter as a collegiate who learned that it takes a personal commitment to live the pledge made.
My Delta life has been one filled with ups and downs as I have run for office and did not win several times but that did not halt my service or my commitment to this chapter. It is a great honor to seek the office of president and stand on the shoulders of those who have blazed the path on which I desire to take. I believe that I can leverage my organizational knowledge, demonstrated leadership and versatile skill set to provide distinct value to this chapter at a time when proven leadership matters.
My vision for this chapter is to execute at a high level, focused on programming to Serve our Community while Optimizing our capabilities, alliances, and resources to Sustain our Strong Sisterhood. Serving the community through our social action efforts and other programmatic thrusts is at the core of our vitality as a sisterhood called to serve. Our efforts must allow us to Optimize the capabilities of ALL of our members through consistent and clear communication while providing a platform for inclusive planning and implementation of programs.
We must also leverage the alliances we have in the community and create new ones to ensure our programs are reaching ALL members of our community. Additionally, by optimizing our resources and identifying alternate methods of obtaining the needed resources for our community we can and will have a positive impact. Sustaining our Strong Sisterhood must focus on the aim of taking the time and effort needed to strengthen our sisterhood through education, empowerment and love for each other and Delta. This S.O.S. system will allow our chapter to thrive, evolve and be successful in our efforts to make an impact in our community.
The framework aims to empower and uplift the community through advocacy, inclusive programming, and leveraging the collective strength of sisterhood. It emphasizes representation, holistic wellbeing, and maximizing the organization’s potential to serve effectively.
The S.O.S. (Standing on Sisterhood) Tenets:
At the core of who I am are the principles of quality mentoring, strong relationships and networking. As a life resident of the area we serve, I have worked and established myself as person in the community who serves and works not only for Delta but where there is a need. My ability to maximize these mentorships, relationships and network opportunities assists our chapter to operate with excellence in fulfilling our commitment to true pillars of Sisterhood, Scholarship Service, and Social Action.
Encouraging members to lead at any stage of their delta journey, educating members on all aspects of Delta, establishing partnerships/connections amongst the members to assist with personal and professional goals.
Making the needed connections with other organizations to expand the reach of our programming, linking the connections of our members with their needs and those of the community
Positive interactions with other D9 organizations, churches in our service area, civic organizations in our service area, municipal and county government, elected officials.
Through my dedicated involvement with Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., I have strived to make a meaningful impact. Underpinning all my endeavors is a steadfast commitment to sustaining and nurturing the strong bonds of sisterhood that define our organization, harnessing our shared strength to drive positive change.
